From tossing paneer cubes and chicken into a pan of butter to caramelised mushroom with chicken and other spices to trigger our taste buds, Indian based chef Sherin Thomas is often seen along side his cutlery and crockery since his childhood in the beautiful village of Thekkady in southern part of Kerala in the Indian subcontinent.
Sherin’s tryst with cooking was purely accidental although he had a curiosity in knowing how his mother cooks the villages cuisines so effortlessly and serve it to anyone and everyone with so much of Love. Yes, he understood that a dish is often made tasty only when that divine element of love is added to each dish in abundance alongside with home grown spices. This took him to pursue his studies in Hotel management and culinary arts in the Indian city of Bangalore. Sherin found his true calling. He worked hard and was a part of many leading hotel groups in the Middle East, India and in New Zealand.
The turning point came when the Spice kitchen family approached him to join them in serving some good homely food for their customers. We are honored to carry on the tradition of Good Times and Good Food to the beautiful people in the Land of traditional Māori cuisine, New Zealand under the label Spice Kitchen.
